VGC regulations change between seasons and determine which Pokémon, items, moves and mechanics are legal in tournament play. This page documents the current Regulation Set for ChampionsVGC, including battle format rules, team construction limits, allowed and restricted Pokémon, and permitted Mega Evolutions. Read these rules carefully before building your team: an illegal item, move or Ability can invalidate an otherwise strong roster. We update this section whenever a new regulation is announced, but always double-check the latest official Play! Pokémon or Pokémon World Championships announcements before traveling to an event.
Battle rules

- • Pokémon are automatically set to Level 50

Team rules
- • Species Clause (no duplicate species)
- • Item Clause (no duplicate held items)
- • Up to one Restricted Pokémon per team
- • Mega Evolutions allowed per this regulation
Allowed / banned Pokémon
- ✓ All non-restricted Pokémon legal in ChampionsVGC
- ✕ Mythical Pokémon
- ✕ More than one Restricted per team
