Methodology

Where the data comes from

Pokémon base data is normalized from PokéAPI on the server during a build/import step. Competitive context is informed by Pokémon Showdown's open dex and editorial review. The end user never queries these sources directly.

Usage rate

An estimated measure of how often a Pokémon appears on teams in the modeled metagame. For the MVP these are illustrative placeholders pending real data import.

Estimated win rate

An estimated, directional indicator of performance. It is not a guarantee and is heavily matchup dependent.

Top cut presence

An estimate of how frequently a Pokémon appears in the top portion of events.

Meta Score & Team Score

Composite, transparent heuristics combining stats, roles and coverage. They are decision aids, not predictions.

Limits of the model

All figures are estimates based on available data. They do not guarantee competitive results and should be combined with practice and judgement.

How regulations update

Regulations are stored as data. New regulations (M-B, M-C, …) can be added without rewriting the site, and legality flags update accordingly.

All figures are estimated trends based on available data and do not guarantee competitive results. Matchups are situational.
